La Finta Giardiniera

Created for the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, this production was an exceptionally eloborate and stunning project to deliver. Each team involved delivered something truly outstanding.

La Finta Giardiniera was first performed in Munich in January 1775

The story follows Count Belfiore and the Marchioness Violante Onesti, who were lovers before Belfiore stabbed Violante in a fit of rage.

Antony MacDonald’s design for La Finta required the CTS team to reproduce an incredibly detailed rendition of a crumbling Rococo palace with hundreds of gilded mouldings, and individually crafted statues. The team worked closely with Antony MacDonald and the Director Fredrick Wake Walker to build two versions of the set, the second version was destroyed by the cast during every performance.

Director: Frederic Wake Walker
Set Designer: Anthony Mc Donald
Production Manager: Tom Harrison
