CTS News Update July 2026
2026 has been a great year for CTS so far, and we are really proud to have built sets for a number of outstanding productions.
We are delighted to have built a number of important and culturally significant Welsh productions; such as the Sherman/National Theatre co-production of PRIDE, this sold-out new stage musical running at the National Theatre based on the classic film about the LGBQT+ community and their legendry support of the striking miners in the mid 1980’s.
As well as that production we also built Our Town for the Welsh National Theatre (led by the magnificent Michael Sheen) which opened in Swansea and toured the UK.
Other significant productions this year include Atonement for Chichester Festival Theatre who we are delighted to be working with again. Designed by the ever-fantastic Anthony Ward and beautifully lit by Aideen Malone, Adam Penford’s production got great reviews and looked stunning on stage! Read the Guardian review here.

We also built two productions of the ballet version of Dracula for Big Live Global Ltd, one for the UK and Europe and one that shipped straight to the USA; this production designed by Martin Thomas lit by Stephen May and beautifully choreographed by Joel Burke. See a Reel from Big Live Global here
This sold-out production is spectacular and now out on World Tour; judging by the audience reactions at Saddlers Wells attracting standing ovations from a very diverse audience.

In June the production of Sinatra opened in the West End after a refurbishment and some new items were undertaken at CTS with fantastic 4 and 5* reviews, and looking stunning on stage: Set Designed by Peter McKintosh and Lit by Bruno Poet and PM-ed by Lloyd Thomas

In July the production of A Midsummer Nights Dream opened at Regents Park. Designed by Naomi Dawson and lit by Josh Pharo looked stunning on in its beautiful open-air setting. Regents Park is such an amazing and atmospheric setting to watch live theatre, and we are delighted to be looking at projects for the summer of 2027 already.

And our most recent set building project has been for Trafalgar Theatre Productions and Horipro, for a new stage adaptation of Death Note (The Musical); a theatrical re-imagining of the manga classic by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata.
The production is fitting up at The Barbican Theatre currently and due to open in the next few weeks. This epic scale production has an outstanding creative team: Designed by Jon Bausor, Directed by Stephen Whitson and Lighting by Jen Schriever.
The production has an initial run of only 50 performances and more information about the show and tickets can be found here.
We move on in October to productions of Hollow for Fiery Angel for a UK Tour, designed by Joanna Parker and directed by Lucy Bailey and this is followed by the epic Welsh story Owain and Henry for Michael Sheen’s Welsh National Theatre, designed by Jon Bausor which opens at the Wales Millenium Centre in November this year.
The remainder of our 2026 and moving into 2027 is firming up currently and for which we have live bids in for a range of productions through until next summer…However we do still have capacity to cost and take on projects so please do get in touch if you have a project that you would like the team at CTS to cost on: The sooner and earlier we are brought into the life cycle of a new production we can offer support and guidance to Designers and Production Managers at the “white card” model stage or even earlier, as our team have the ability to do deliver from concept to arrival on stage and every process to that point and beyond…
