Ed rejoined CTS as Managing Director in 2023 having previously spent almost 5 years as General Manager until September 2019. Ed has extensive experience as both a Production Manager and Technical Director and as a member of the SMT of various arts organisations over his 35-year career in theatre. Ed has production managed extensively for companies such as the Royal Court, ENO, Complicite, New Adventures and Bristol Old Vic and the WMC most recently.
Ed was Technical Director of Theatre Royal Plymouth 2001-2004 and was the senior manager responsible for setting up TR2 their fantastic production facility which he considers to be a career highlight.
Ed has always had a keen interest in vocational craft training for the theatre and has worked as an External Examiner for BOVTS and OFSTED and as a Trustee (also as a Production Manager during the pandemic) and has strong links for RWCMD where he still lectures regularly.
As Managing Director Ed takes responsibility for delivering the budgeted turn over and profit to parent company WNO as well as working closely with clients on costing new projects and managing the wide and diverse team at CTS.
Favourite Project
The CTS project Ed is proudest of is Nutcracker for Atlanta Ballet, designed by Tom Pye; which was one of the most ambitious and large scale projects CTS had ever undertaken: Ed installed this with Abi Emmett (and Andy Pike) in Atlanta in the summer of 2018: One of the photos from this project feature on the website on our History and Timeline page.
